How Dr. Brandon Sheridan Became an Economist

On this week's Coffee With Dr. A I talk to Dr. Brandon Sheridan, Assistant Professor of Economics at Elon University. We talk about one of my favorite papers he has written, how he accidentally ended up in a Ph.D program, and the importance of high school economics courses to his career path. We also spend some time learning about him being an assistant professor at Elon University.

Brief Bio:

Brandon J. Sheridan, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kentucky in 2012 and his B.S. from Centre College, with a double-major in Economics and Government, in 2006. His favorite courses to teach are Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, Principles of Economics, International Trade, Economic Growth and Development, and the Federal Reserve Challenge. His primary research interests involve the intersection of international trade, education, and economic growth. He also has an avid research interest in economic education, especially the efficacy of various technologies and pedagogical techniques. He has published papers in various peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Macroeconomics, Review of International Economics, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Education, and Empirical Economics.

Areas of expertise

His areas of expertise are economic education and the intersection of economic growth and international trade. Iā€™m passionate about teaching and bringing evidence-based pedagogy into the classroom, as well as pushing forward the literature around evidence-based teaching practices in the college classroom.
