In this conversation we talk about her innovative teaching methods, her use of instagram to engage students, and her international experience. I really enjoyed this conversation and recommend it for all educators, and especially economics educators.

Rebecca L. Moryl, PhD is a passionate, economics educator with more than 15 years’ classroom experience. In addition to her role as Associate Professor of Economics at Emmanuel College, her work on innovative and effective economics pedagogy has won awards and been featured in publications including the Journal of Economic Education, International Review of Economics Education and Faculty Focus. She is the creator of audioecon.com, a resource library of podcasts and related assignments used by thousands of economics instructors across the globe since 2013. An avid traveler, she taught graduate students, trained faculty and developed curricula as Fulbright Scholar at the University of Kigali in Rwanda; taught an intensive economics travel course in Greece and Cyprus, and received a Whiting Fellowship to research urban water policies in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa. She consults with nonprofits on strategic planning, development and effective communication. A dedication to fostering intellectual curiosity and empathy, and focus on effective implementation of policy, strategies and goals are consistent theme of her diverse work and interests. Dr. Moryl earned her PhD in Public Policy at University of Massachusetts, Boston; MS in Economic Policy at Suffolk University; and BA in Public Policy at Trinity College, Hartford. Courses taught include Principles of Microeconomics, Urban Economics, Health Care Economics, Environmental Economics, International Economics, Business Economics, Microeconomics for Policy at the undergraduate and graduate level for a variety of academic programs. She provides professional workshops and guest lectures in economics, effective pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, online instruction and learning.
