Social Responsibility to Move Oman Forward

What Oman needs more than anything is its people. Before Covid 19 ever was an issue, Oman needed a new way forward. After the recent pandemic, Omanis are even more important in unleashing the bright future we are capable of enjoying.

On January 20th, 1961 JFK addressed the United States of America during his inaugural speech and said

“..ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country”

Omanis today I present you with the same request; Ask what can you do for your country.

Our future will depend on each of one us doing our part. What are you best at? What is it that you want to contribute? Whatever it is you decide, we will need it. Recently, social media has been asking what our successful business persons are doing to support the economy, society, and health industry during these difficult times. This is a valid question. I ask myself and I urge you to ask what are you, as an individual, doing to help move Oman forward?

What is your contribution to the health, economy, and society of Oman?

I went for a walk today around the neighborhood. The beach was empty, so I decided to clear my mind and listen to the waves. I came across a secluded beach. One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Oman’s beauty truly can not be compared.

I was saddened to see the following images

Our social responsibility starts with recognizing that we are part of a whole, that our actions impact others. We collectively, as a whole, can make a difference. These images might represent a very small issue to you, but it is a representation of a bigger issue. We are passing on responsibilities rather than asking what we can do for our country. Do not rely om others to fix what you need to fix.

Our social responsibility starts with recognizing that we are part of a whole, that our actions impact others. We COLLECTIVELY can make a difference.

What other areas of your day, work, and life are you giving responsibility to others to manage? What are you doing to help your community forward?

It is easy to ask of others to do more, are we ready to ask ourselves to do more? I will be spending my time, social distancing trying to figure out what I can do to help move things forward in my community. To do this effectively, it will require time and effort. until we figure out how each one of us will contribute, we can start by picking up our own trash and doing our part with social distancing so that our society is better off. It starts with us!
